At the Ninth Meeting (May 2008 in Bonn, Germany, the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) agreed to develop an International Regime for Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) by 2010. The Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL) and several national and international science organizations and research projects organized a workshop on ABS in Non-Commercial Biodiversity Research. The workshop was held at the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig in Bonn, Germany, on 17-19 November 2008.
